The loch is long and narrow, approximately 22 miles long. On the day of my swim, the water was 50°F/10°C. I swam in just a suit, cap and googles.

Swimming the length of Loch Ness was one of the most difficult swims I’ve ever done. The water was 50°F/10°C — and I swam by by English Channel rules, which means no wetsuit.

This swim is very special to me since it was the last swim that my sister, Joy joined. She passed away later that year. At the time we had no idea that it would be the last adventure that we would have together. Joy was on the beach at the end, she handed me a towel and wrapped her arms around me with a huge smile. I’ll always remember that moment. I’m forever grateful for the the time we had together. And, for all her care and love as my big sister.
